Cam Indexing Drive

Cam Indexing Drive is one of the main products manufactured by Enstark, one of the earliest professional manufacturers in China mainland. With years of effort and technical accumulation, Enstark has become the leading manufacturer of Cam Indexing Drives in China.

Enstark cam indexers are trusted by well-known system integrators and reputable factories such as BYD Auto, Huawei, Foxconn, Han's Laser, GREE, and OPPO, in China and worldwide, because each SGA globoidal cam indexer promises quality, repeatability, accuracy, and durability.

How the Cam Indexing Drive Works

Cam Indexing Drives are also called Globoidal Cam Indexers, Cam Indexing Tables, Cam Driven Indexers, or Fixed Station Indexers. They are rotary precision transmission components for various automatic devices, suitable for a wide range of industries such as Food and Packing, Pharmaceutical, Aerospace and Defense, Automotive, and Electronics.

The cams inside the indexing table are designed to match the precision indexing and idle times without stopping the motor, but they can also be used for start-stop applications. These are versatile units suitable for a wide range of rotary driving applications.

Six types of cam indexers are provided by Enstark, based on the configuration of the output portion.

Features of SGA Cam Indexing Drive

Six characteristics that come from the cam and turret design.

High Indexing Accuracy

SGA's specially designed cam follower ensures heavy load capability while maintaining high indexing accuracy and high torque. The indexing accuracy of standard models is ±30 seconds, and models with higher indexing accuracy are available on request.

Precision Driving Mechanism

At the moment of indexing or stop, the follower is secured in place within the prescribed position, eliminating the need for any locking elements.

High Speed Performance

Backlash is completely eliminated by applying a preload to the tapered rib of the precision-machined cam and the cam follower, resulting in reliable high-speed operation. Fully controlled acceleration minimizes shock due to load or vibration.

Simple Mechanism

Composed of only a cam and turret, with no unnecessary parts, while providing any intermittent motion needed.

Motion Curves

Modified trapezoid curve (for high speed and low loading), modified sine curve (for middle/high speed and middle loading), and modified constant velocity curve (for low speed and heavy load) are available to suit the application.

Smooth Transmission

As the turret is designed to rotate continuously in any position, the tapered ribs of the cam stay in contact with two or three cam rollers at all times. Rotation from the input shaft is transmitted evenly to the output shaft, so the drive runs smoothly without vibration or noise.

Production & Service Procedure

A cam indexing drive is only as accurate as the cam inside it. Our process starts with your application data and ends with a drive that has been tested for indexing accuracy and is ready to run on your machine.

Production & Service Procedure

What happens next

1

Application Review & Model Selection

We review your turntable diameter, load weight, number of stations, and speed. Then we calculate the required torque with a 1.5 safety factor to select the right model.

2

Custom Cam Curve Design

The index angle, dwell angle, and motion curve (modified trapezoid, modified sine, or modified constant velocity) are designed to match your cycle and load.

3

Cam Machining & Heat Treatment

Alloy steel cams are sawn, rough ground, and carburized at high temperature to a surface hardness of HRC 52–60, then precision ground to the final curve.

4

Precision Assembly & Preload

Cam rollers and imported Japanese-brand bearings are assembled, and a preload is applied to the tapered rib to eliminate backlash for smooth, quiet, high-speed operation.

5

Accuracy Testing & After-Sales Service

Every unit is checked on our in-house angle indexing tester before delivery. It ships with a 12-month warranty and 24-hour technical support.

Cam Indexer FAQ Illustration
What is a cam indexing drive and how does it work?

A cam indexing drive converts continuous input rotation into precise intermittent output motion. The indexing cam on the input shaft drives cam rollers mounted on the output turret, rotating the output according to a set displacement curve. In the dwell zone, the rollers stay engaged with the cam ribs, so the output holds its position without any locking device.
